Start a Chapter
Bring DevSoc's community and principles to your campus or city
Why We Do This
DevSoc exists for one reason: to help student developers learn by building, in a supportive community. Our mission is to create a supportive community for students, encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing, provide workshops, hackathons, CTFs, and industry exposure, and give back through outreach.
A chapter is how that mission reaches beyond one campus. Chapters bring the same values to a new city or institution, run by local students who know their community best.
You do not need to be an expert to start one. You need to care about other students, and want to build something with them.

What a DevSoc Chapter Is
A chapter is a local DevSoc, run by students, grounded in the same principles as the parent society.
A Learning Hub
Beginner-friendly coding sessions, hands-on workshops, and collaborative projects. Members learn by building, not just by watching.
A Community
Mentorship, peer learning, and a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of background or skill level. Growth through mutual respect.
A Force for Good
Chapters give back through outreach, advocating for tech careers and raising awareness for students who would not otherwise have access.
The Principles Every Chapter Upholds
These are the DevSoc values a chapter commits to, and the standard it is held to.
Learning by Building
A chapter is a place where theory becomes practice. Sessions are hands-on: projects, builds, and real problems, not just slides.
Collaboration & Community
Chapters exist to bring students together. Knowledge is shared openly, and members grow through teamwork and mutual respect.
Integrity & Accountability
A chapter runs on honesty and responsibility. Leaders keep their commitments, respect their members, and uphold the society's standards.
Innovation & Problem-Solving
Chapters tackle real problems with technology, encouraging creative thinking instead of following tutorials by rote.
Leadership Through Service
Starting a chapter is not about the title. It is about serving your local community and helping other students grow.
Excellence & Growth
A chapter sets high standards for itself and keeps getting better, for both the technical and the personal development of its members.
