The GitHub Student Developer Pack is a bundle of free tools and services for verified students. It’s a strong perk of being a student developer, and almost every DevSoc member can claim it.
What it is
The Pack gives students free access to professional developer tools for as long as they stay enrolled. GitHub Pro is included, so you get unlimited private repositories, advanced code review tools, and GitHub Actions minutes at no cost. Cloud credits come from providers like Microsoft Azure, DigitalOcean, and MongoDB Atlas. Premium editors, hosting, domains, and APIs are covered by partners such as JetBrains, Figma, and Namecheap.
Verified student status also unlocks GitHub programs. GitHub Campus Experts is one of them.

Am I eligible?
You qualify if you’re enrolled at an accredited educational institution. Most DevSoc members studying at Miva and our partner schools fit the requirements. You need to be at least 13 years old and have a GitHub account.
The Pack stays free while you’re a student, with a small discount window after you graduate.
How to get it
Start at github.com. Create an account or sign in to an existing one.
Open education.github.com/pack and click Get the Pack. Select your school from the dropdown. If it isn’t listed, search anyway. Many institutions are already in GitHub’s directory.
Verify your student status with any accepted method. A school-issued email like you@youruniversity.edu.ng works fastest. An official student ID photo also works, as long as it shows your name and a date. GitHub may offer other options in your region, such as Campus Program verification or a national ID card.
Check your email and click the verification link. Within a few minutes to a couple of days, GitHub Pro is applied and the rest of the Pack unlocks on your account.

Why claim it
The Pack costs nothing while you’re a student. The tools inside give you hands-on experience with professional platforms, which shows up on resumes and comes up in interviews. Hosting, domains, and cloud credits let you ship real projects without spending a kobo. And holding the Pack is a hard requirement for applying to be a GitHub Campus Expert.
If you get stuck
Verification hiccups happen. If your school isn’t listed or your document gets rejected, ask in the DevSoc Discord and a committee member will walk you through it. GitHub’s verification support also responds to tickets filed from the education page at support.github.com.
